Our impact
For decades, neighbours and churches have come together to share food and care across Richmond.
A community partnership
The food centre began in the 1980s as a St Stephen’s Anglican mission led by Archdeacon Marjorie McGregor. In 2008 it moved to St Ignatius’ Church through a partnership between Anglican, Uniting and Catholic churches. As other churches joined, it became Richmond Churches Food Centre.
Food and connection
Volunteers, local churches and supporters have helped provide food and a welcoming place for people in the community. A 2016 account described the centre as a place of food and friendship, with local partnerships helping to sustain its work.
The Langdon Memorial window
Our logo draws on the Langdon Memorial window at St Stephen’s. Made by Bennets and Leigh in 1989, the window honours Jocelyn David Langdon, a Richmond councillor and twice mayor. It depicts local landmarks and St Stephen feeding the hungry, reflecting the spirit of service and partnership that continues in the food centre’s work.
